With the firm since its founding in 1984, Tom has been a partner in the Real Estate group since 1988. His real estate practice encompasses a broad range of clients and transactions and includes the representation of buyers and sellers of commercial and industrial properties, landlords and tenants in office and industrial leasing transactions, and borrowers and lenders in real estate financing transactions.
A significant portion of Tom’s practice involves the representation of publicly traded real estate investment trusts and their advisory companies. In that context he has represented buyers and sellers in major multi-property and multi-state portfolio transactions. Tom also has extensive experience structuring and completing tax-deferred real property exchanges and sale/leaseback transactions. Prior to commencing law practice, Tom served for five years on the faculty of the University of Virginia’s School of Commerce.
